About Me.
I’m Aimée José. I've lived with Type 1 diabetes (T1D) since 1983, and I’ve spent my career helping people with T1D navigate the complexities of insulin therapy, technology, and real-life decision-making.
I specialize in intensive diabetes management, and my passion is teaching it in ways that feel clear, empowering, and judgment-free. I believe diabetes care should extend beyond the clinic, into homes, conversations, and everyday moments where support is needed most.
Most recently I was the Principal Clinical Educator at a health-tech startup. I have also been a certified pump trainer for all US based pump companies for over 15 years. In my spare time I write for diabetes publications and actively contribute to advocacy groups, support programs, advisory committees and diabetes camps across the West coast.
I’m especially interested in how emerging technologies can help people with T1D manage more safely and confidently. And I bring a personal lens to everything I do.
Whether you're a patient, caregiver, or fellow provider, I’m here to help make diabetes care more human, more informed, and more accessible.
My
Story

Why I became a CDCES
Ok, I admit it. I’m selfish. I selfishly work in the field of diabetes to better myself…through all of you. I gain knowledge from you every day that is not taught in a class or textbook.
I am passionate, I am an advocate, I am often a skeptic, but mostly I am a believer. I believe that with knowledge, a spark of curiosity, and the ability to be resourceful we can all be more empowered to proactively care for ourselves.
